A 20+ year journey…
Over twenty years ago, when I first started training in Jeet Kune Do (JKD), I quickly realized I needed a way to keep up with everything I was learning. Jeet Kune Do (JKD) isn’t just one style—it’s a dynamic and practical martial art founded by Bruce Lee that emphasizes simplicity, directness, and adaptability, blending the best techniques from various disciplines like boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Filipino Martial Arts (FMA), Silat, Wing Chun, and more to create an efficient fighting system; it’s a philosophy as much as a style, encouraging constant evolution and personal expression. I was hungry to master them all, especially boxing, Muay Thai, and BJJ, inspired by watching the very first UFC and seeing what real martial arts looked like in action.
I also enjoyed the more esoteric arts like Silat and Wing Chun, and found techniques from those styles surprisingly useful when I boxed or rolled on the mats. Taking notes became essential, especially when preparing for level examinations or when life forced me to step away from training for a while. My notebooks were the key to catching up quickly and staying sharp.
That’s when I truly understood how powerful writing things down and reviewing them could be. Science backs this up too—studies on memory, neuroscience, and sports psychology show that visualization and note-taking improve learning and performance.
From these experiences, I began compiling the best information and methods for learning and performing martial arts more efficiently. That’s how the MYM/JIMI Notebook and the MYM Method were born. To this day, I keep studying and testing new tools to see what works best, which keeps me motivated to keep training, competing, and improving the MYM Method and its related tools.
And I continue to train and perform in martial arts using my notebook and the Master Your Moves (MYM) Method. Most recently, these tools helped me win gold in the heavyweight masters division (blue belt) at the IBJJF NY Spring Open 2025. While I’m focusing on advancing my BJJ skills to earn a higher belt, I still maintain and refine all of my JKD skills, using my notes, visualizations, and taking classes & workshops.
Whether you’re just starting out or have been training for years, my MYM/JIMI Notebooks, tools, and MYM Method will help you master your moves and elevate your skills.
Thank you for supporting this small business built on passion, experience, and a commitment to helping martial artists like you succeed. I’m excited to share more MYM tools and apparel soon — so stay tuned!
Train smart, stay disciplined, and master your moves.
